Preventive Services

Stay ahead of dental needs with a strong commitment to prevention. A routine dental exam and imaging can catch most dental needs before they become a serious issue. Professional dental cleanings are also an integral part in preventing gingivitis and periodontal disease, a destructive infection that affects approximately 50% of adults in the US.

Periodontal Treatment and Maintenance

Nearly half of the adult population has one or more areas of their mouth that has been compromised by loss of bone support. Beyond the scope of a basic cleaning, this condition requires a more specialized and detailed type of dental cleaning if you wish to prevent progression. Especially as we age, periodontal treatment and maintenance cleanings are an integral part of keeping our teeth. Our highly trained hygiene team offers comprehensive and successful periodontal diagnosis, treatment and maintenance.

Bioesthetic Dentistry

Bioesthetic dentistry entails a comprehensive evaluation of your chewing system. This includes the teeth, jaw joints, bones, nerves, muscles, lips, tongue, mouth, and face. All of these things are viewed as a collective system, not individual parts. When all parts of this system are in balance, a beautiful smile can be created and your chewing system can become healthy and can be maintained. If the parts of the chewing system are not in balance, the system can break down. Bioesthetic dentistry can help correct issues including:

  • An unattractive smile
  • Worn down, chipped, cracked, or broken teeth
  • Worn, chipped, cracked, or broken dental work
  • Headaches and migraines
  • Pain in the face or neck muscles
  • Pain in the jaw joint
  • Difficulty chewing
  • Teeth grinding and clenching
  • Clicking in the jaw
  • Loose permanent teeth or receding gums
  • A change in your bite
  • Pain or ringing in the ears

Dr. Orazio is a graduate of the Orognathic Bioesthetics International course and has received training that allows him to diagnose issues with the chewing system. This gives us the expertise and experience to provide effective dental treatments to correct the causes of dental breakdown.

Dental Implants

Are there gaps or spaces in your smile? Are you missing one or more permanent teeth? To restore the beauty and functionality of your smile, Dr. Orazio may recommend dental implants. Dental implants are made of a dental implant post and a dental restoration. The implant post is surgically placed in your jaw, where it acts as replacement tooth roots. The dental restoration, which can be a dental crown, dental bridge, or dentures, is attached to the implant post.

Dental Inlays & Onlays

When a patient’s tooth does not have enough remaining structure to support a dental filling but it is not damaged enough to need a dental crown, Dr. Orazio may recommend an inlay or onlay. They can be white or gold. Inlays and onlays are similar to fillings, but they are made in a dental laboratory. Because of this, two dental visits are required to place an inlay or an onlay. With inlays, the work lies entirely within the cusps on the chewing surface of the tooth. Onlays are more extensive and are sometimes called partial crowns. They cover one or more cusps on the chewing surface of the tooth.

For our patients who want the longest lasting, most conservative restorations available, we recommend inlays and onlays. As a member of the prestigious Tucker Gold Study Club since 1996, Dr. Orazio has become an expert in providing gold restorations that are long lasting and yet, still esthetic.

Porcelain Dental Veneers

Are your teeth discolored, worn down, or chipped? Do you dream of a more attractive, radiant smile? Veneers are thin shells that are custom made to cover the front of your teeth to improve their appearance. Dental veneers, when bonded to your teeth, improve the color, shape, size, or length of your teeth. We may recommend dental veneers to fix:

  • Discolored teeth
  • Worn down teeth
  • Chipped, cracked, or broken teeth
  • Slightly crooked or crowded teeth
  • Misshaped teeth
  • Gaps and spaces between teeth

Dental veneers are made of porcelain, which resists stains well. Porcelain veneers also mimic the light reflecting properties of your teeth. Dental veneers have many advantages. They look like your natural teeth. A color can even be selected that will make stained teeth appear whiter. Gum tissue tolerates porcelain well, so gum tissue remains healthy once the veneer is in place. Dental veneers offer a conservative way to improve the appearance of your teeth. They are more conservative of tooth structure than crowns.

Teeth Contouring

Contouring teeth is the process by which a dentist removes a small amount of tooth enamel to change the length, shape, or surface of a tooth. When a patient wishes to improve the beauty and balance of their smile. Dr. Orazio may recommend teeth contouring to:

  • Repair chipped teeth
  • Smooth bulges or pits in the enamel
  • Correct misshapen teeth
  • Adjust the length of teeth

If your teeth have serious imperfections like a large chip or a deep fracture, teeth contouring may not be for you. This procedure is not meant to be a substitute for dental veneers, but is often used in conjunction with other esthetic procedures.

Teeth Whitening

For those who wish to brighten a stained or discolored smile, we offer several options for teeth whitening. Custom-made whitening trays may be recommended for use with a professional strength gel whitening solution. Slip the trays over your teeth and wear as prescribed. Depending on the type of solution used, treatment time can vary from one week to 16 days.
